We publish a small number of outside pieces a year, and we’d rather read one good paragraph from you than one unsolicited draft.
Guidelines.
What we’re looking for
Brand strategy, marketing and business in Botswana and the wider region, written from real experience rather than general theory. We’d rather run one sharp, specific piece than another generic listicle.
What gets a fast no
- Pieces written mainly to place a link, with the content built around it rather than the other way round
- Paid placement or “sponsored post” requests: we don’t sell editorial space
- Anything unrelated to brand, marketing or business
- A finished draft with no pitch first: pitch the idea, we’ll ask for the draft if it’s a fit
If we say yes
You keep the byline and one contextual link back to your site or profile. We keep the right to edit for length, clarity and voice, and to decline to publish if the final piece doesn’t hold up. We reply to pitches within two weeks either way.
